Our mission:

Ancestors Community Charter High School has been designed to provide an alternative educational experience for students who are unable to succeed in a traditional high school environment.  The school has been designed to inspire students to achieve academic, social and career success by providing a supportive community that identifies, encourages, and develops each student's individual interests and abilities.

Special features of our program:

Students attend four extended class periods per day, rather than racing from one 40-minute class to another.  This "block schedule" allows for more focused time to study subjects in greater depth.

  • All students participate in community service activities.
  • Students have the opportunity to take courses at local college campuses.
  • Students can receive credit for work experience as part of their individualized programs of study.

Ancestors Community Charter High School was founded by New Opportunities for Waterbury (NOW).
